Action research highlights

"...action research can build up a small community of research-oriented individuals within the school itself." (Fraenkel, Waller, Hyunh pg. 594)

I wanted to comment on action research since this type of research is essential for all instructors.  Action research is discovery of new information in which participants humanize with the researcher.  Many times research has an experiemental perspective where the researcher is disconnected with the participants.  A divide between researcher and participants provides a structured systematic view of scholarly work but can lead to research that is meaningless.  Research that does not see participants as active individuals in the process make the study condescending.  A sense of superiority and "looking through the microscope" with the people is exhibited in most research.  Changes are more likely to occur in action research, resulting in new ideas and solutions to issues on a particular topic.  My research revolves around technology and how the development of emerging technology can develop students into critically consciousess individuals.
