At home learning, and experimenting with screencasting

Remote and distance learning has been something that we are adjusting to. Something that I have used in the past, is now a necessity in all work environments due the outbreak of the coronavirus(COVID-19). I wanted to take time to give my critiques over two screencasting programs that are FREE. There are many screencast tools that accessible and I have used many apps on the iPhone and iPad, such as Chompscreen and Explain Everything but I want to go over two that are really effective and engaging.

Screencasting is basically recording your computer screen as you are working. Screencasting is really great to create video tutorials and what I have used it for is for presentations. I think screencasting is a great way for students to practice and share their presentations through digital recording system.

The two I want to talk about are screencastify and screen cast o matic. Two of these programs are free and easily installed onto a computer or apps on mobile devices (smartphones or tablets). Screencastify is a great application/program that works well on chrome. It seems to only work effectively on a Chrome web browser. Once you start it up, the tools are accessible and user-friendly so you can make a screencast in a matter of minutes. The thing I like the most about screencastify is that videos can easily be transferred and uploaded onto Google Drive for quick access. This is great for schools that already have students accustomed to Google programs. This is great for quickly posting tutorials onto Google Classroom!
The Second Screencast tool is Screen cast o matic. This free as well and more accessible on any web browser. Once you upload the screencast tool, you can easily navigate through your desktop and start recording. This one also has a mobile application version that works well on Smartphones and Tablets. The only setbacks are that videos aren't easily transferred to you Google Drive. You will have to do some basic uploading and changing file formats to import videos onto Google programs. The mobile application works well, which makes it an accessible tool but there is no caption screen function on the mobile application.
I think both of these programs are effective in their own way, depending on what you're looking for.
