Assessing through discovery: A new way of assessing using the plickers app

Today, a couple of teachers I work with and I implemented Plickers to assess students.  The plickers app was a great way for students to be assessed through subjectively retrieving correct response from students and self-discover.  The process encountered issues but with some tweaking, assessment through discovery can be a great way to measure student progress but also assessing students ability to discover the answers by walking around and analyzing notes and artifact clues.  This method of assessing hits the learning objectives and performance objectives of students.  Some things to think about for next time are:
-reduce multiple choice questions and increase short response questions.
-think about group format using plickers instead of stations.
-have students write their responses on back of plickers card as a back up
-have paper option for those not engaged in discovery assessment.
